What is International SPTW Day?
International Safe Places to Work Day is an annual event dedicated to celebrate organisations and individuals that eliminate fear and champion psychological safety in the workplace.
Why the 24th of July?
Because psychological safety should be 24/7, and this date acknowledges that it should be a continuous effort, and not limited to a single day. It emphasises the need for organisations to prioritise and enable psychological safety to create workplace environments where individuals feel safe to speak up, share their ideas, ask questions, and voice concerns without fear of retribution or harassment.
The prioritisation of psychological safety has been supported by research and real-world experiences such as Project Aristotle, a research initiative at Google. It shed light on the profound impact of psychological safety on team performance, productivity and engagement.
International Safe Places to Work Day encourages organisations to actively work towards creating environments where employees feel safe, valued, and empowered.
